This is a Large Marble and Steel Worktable or Executive Desk, custom-designed in the 1960s by Gordon Bunshaft and Davis Allen for SOM. It features a thick rectangular black and white marble slab top, and has a stainless steel base with a black enameled bib. The four legs are done in polished stainless steel. Bunshaft was an important American architect; a leading figure in the modernist movement who was widely recognized for his work in skyscraper design.
This table measures 42 inches long, 72 inches wide, and 26.5 inches high including its marble top. There are some shallow chips to the marble on the edges of the piece, and there are some scratches on the steel trim. The marble can be polished and repaired to like new upon request for an additional fee. Overall, this piece is in very good original condition with some signs of use. Please see photos.
